Seminar on “Need of Standards in India”
November 29, 2022Asian Business School in association with Bureau of Indian Standards, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India organized a Seminar on “Needs of Standards in India” on 29th November 2022. Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the National Standard Body of India. BIS is responsible for the harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
Ms. Neha Yadav, Scientist D/ Joint director, Services Sector Department took a session explaining the needs and requirements of the Standards in India. She made the students aware of the standardization and also explained them the benefits of standardization to uplift the society at large. Ms. Neha informed the audience that BIS is the National Standard Body of India established under the BIS Act 2016 for the harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto BIS has been providing traceable and tangible benefits to the national economy in a number of ways – providing safe reliable quality goods; minimizing health hazards to consumers; promoting exports and imports substitute; control over proliferation of varieties etc. through standardization, certification and testing.
